Hangouts Meet now supports Skype
Google has announced that Hangouts Meet now supports Skype and other video conferencing systems. This is possible through Google’s partnership with Pexip which was announced at InfoComm in Las Vegas earlier this month. The partnership enables Hangouts Meet users to join a call with clients, vendors, or partners joining from another platform which includes Skype for Business, Polycom, and Cisco.
In addition to Pexip, Google also is working with Logitech, Lindy and Newnex to bring new hardware to the Hangouts Meet Hardware ecosystem. Logitech is adding its MeetUp all-in-one conference cam with 120° field of view and integrated audio while Lindy and Newnex bring the highest quality USB 3.0 extenders and hubs to the meeting room. All of this are certified peripherals which will get automatic, over-the-air firmware updates.
