Deepavali: Let there be light!
Not to say we live in a big dark cave but Deepavali is the time where we celebrate the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair. So, just like every year, we at PointStar come together to celebrate Deepavali and have a darn good time. Oh, and not forgetting Halloween. We can’t leave out the good-ol jack-o’-lanterns.
We kicked off our celebration with filling our bellies with traditional Indian food including beriani rice, three different curry dishes, naan and chicken tandoori. Accompanied by some remixed Bollywood music, all of us were really getting in the mood while enjoying our Indian delicacies.
With our stomachs filled, it was time for the celebration to be kicked into high gear with some hyperactive fun and games. It all started with an ankle-busting game called “Pop The Balloon”. Teams of four go head-to-head to burst the opponent’s’ balloons which were tied to our ankles. The last person standing will be the winner and let’s just watch the video to see how far the teams were willing to push themselves in order to come out on top. It’s safe to say that we were out of breath after a few minutes running around.
The second game was a bit more “civilised” with a hint of inspiration from ‘A Minute To Win It”. Making use of a lot of ping pong balls lying around the office, a dustbin and a clipboard, each team is required to throw as many ping pong balls into the dustbin within 3 minutes. Simple, right? Here’s the catch; the ping pong balls need to bounce off the clipboard which is attached to a team member’s waist.
After witnessing some super ninja moves and hip shaking, we moved on to the last game; ‘Dress Up A Mummy’. One team member is dressed up like a mummy using toilet rolls but it doesn’t stop there. The rest of the team members will then need to guide their mummy through a maze of paper/plastic cups (we ran out of paper cups). The team with the least number of cups toppled wins the game.
At the end of the day, Team A which consists of Rini, Eric, Ze Wei and Richard came out as the overall winner. Even though we were exhausted, everyone enjoyed themselves. Here’s to a brighter future ahead as we move towards a world of cloud.
