Celebrating 10 years of bringing cloud to the world
What a way to celebrate 10 years in the business. On March 9, PointStar brought everyone mainly from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia together for some fun at Universal Studios Singapore. Almost 50 energetic men and women who have made PointStar what it is today were present. Each and everyone of us were dressed in our special 10th anniversary edition PointStar t-shirt to mark the momentous occasion.
The Indonesian team arrived a day earlier to soak up some culture and beautiful views of The Lion City. Gardens by the Bay and Merlion Park were some of the sites visited as part of their three-day tour of Singapore. Of course, they were not going to miss the chance for a night photo session with the Singapore Flyer in the background.
On Friday morning, the whole team gathered in front of the Universal Studios Globe. The Malaysian team came in from Johor while the Indonesian team made their way from their hotel at Selegie Rd to Universal Studios via MRT. The Singapore team greeted everyone with open arms before PointStar COO Michelle Alphonso gave a short briefing.
After a team photo in front of the globe, we were on our way through the gates for a fun-filled experience as a PointStar family. As usual, the big attractions like Transformers The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle and Battlestar Galactica: Human vs Cylon garnered long lines with waiting times of up to 40 minutes. So, in the interest of time, we decided to go for other rides like Enchanted Airways, Revenge of the Mummy and Accelerator.
Around 12.30pm, we’ve gathered at Oasis Spice Café to have a team lunch. The cafe served up some delicious traditional Indian delicacies including Mutton Masala and Butter Chicken Biryani.
With a full stomach, we continued our journey through Universal Studios with live shows such as Lights, Camera, Action! Hosted by Steven Spielberg, WaterWorld and Shrek 4-D Adventure. We couldn’t pick a better time to visit Universal Studios Singapore since it was the first day of TrollsTopia. The highlight of the day was the coronation celebration of Trolls Queen Poppy. There were dancers moving to the music of Trolls. The colourful spectacle attracted children who were quick to take selfies with the performers.
By 7pm, the crowd was starting to exit the theme park with a huge smile on their faces. Everyone in the team were knackered from a day’s worth of walking, dancing and screaming but we will never forget the memories that were created from it.
