Windows Linux System Engineer

What a day at work for you will look like:

  1. Manage and monitor systems and infrastructure of Windows server and Linux environment;
  2. Install and configure operating systems, software applications and other tools;
  3. Take proactive actions to ensure that systems and infrastructure meet high levels of availability;
  4. Plan and create strategy for security, patching and redundancy;
  5. Perform an assessment of server environments and recommend changes to improve system performance and overall stability.
  6. Perform migrations / installations / upgrades of Linux operating systems and installed applications
  7. Liaise with various vendors or personnel for troubleshooting and resolution;
  8. Work closely with developers to implement custom scripts for fixes or automation;
  9. Be on standby for urgent matters, and perform hands-on troubleshooting as required.


To be successful in this role, you need to have:

  1. Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
  2. Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux/Windows based environments.
  3. Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g.,Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX)
  4. Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
  5. Experience with monitoring systems
  6. Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef)
  7. Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
